
Shanais Hilliard
Shanais (Shana) Hilliard (pronounced “Shah-nah-eas (Shah-nah) Hill-yerd”) is a dynamic Diversity and Belonging leader known for transforming workplace culture through intentional strategy, authentic leadership, and a deep commitment to inclusion. With a career rooted in innovation and people-first practices, she led a globally recognized inclusive culture strategy that earned multiple awards and set a new standard for inclusive workplace culture.
A creative problem-solver and strategic thinker, she began her professional journey in marketing operations, where her design of a lead engine significantly boosted sales outcomes. However, it was her pivot to belonging and workplace inclusion that ignited her greatest impact, driving meaningful change by embedding belonging into the everyday culture and practices of the workplace.
Her work has been widely recognized, most notably with the 2023 Delaware Culture Builder of the Year award, celebrating her influence on organizational culture and her ability to foster inclusive environments where all individuals feel seen, respected, and empowered. She played a key role in launching multiple Colleague Resource Groups, helping to build their foundations while empowering others to step into leadership and amplify underrepresented voices across the organization.

A sought-after panelist, she is able to bring a unique blend of expertise in inclusive workplace strategy, equity-centered leadership, and Sustainability to discussions both locally and internationally. Her contributions to panels at events such as the Delaware Department of Human Resources: MLK Day 2025: The Baton Passes On virtual panel and The Business Excellence Institute’s Opportunity or Fad? ESG in an Age of Culture Politics have provided valuable insights into embedding inclusive practices within organizational cultures and addressing the social impacts of sustainability. Known for her ability to bridge the gap between policy and people, she offers actionable strategies that resonate with diverse audiences.
Beyond her professional achievements, she is a passionate community advocate. Her volunteer work spans mentoring students at Eastside Charter Elementary School, supporting athletes at Special Olympics Delaware, and lending time to organizations such as The MS Foundation and the Ministry of Caring.
In her free time, she enjoys painting, reading, cooking, and playing basketball—pursuits that showcase her creative spirit and vibrant energy. She holds a BA from Widener University and currently resides in Claymont, Delaware, with her partner and son.
As the founder of Belonging Beyond Boundaries, LLC, she now partners with small and mid-sized organizations to co-create inclusive cultures through tailored strategies, education, and leadership development. Her mission is clear: to inspire workplaces where individuals feel truly seen, heard, and valued.
